Aloha Athletic Directors and Rifle Team Coaches,

The Hawaii Friends of NRA is pleased to announce a Coach Certification Course July 19-22, 2010 (6 PM—9:30PM) at the Punahou School Air Rifle Range, 1601 Punahou Street, Honolulu (basement of Castle Hall). The coach course is co-hosted by the Punahou Air Rifle Team, the Crusader Rifle Team and the Hawaii Friends of NRA. Coaches completing the academic training successfully will gain hands-on coaching experience under the supervision of the National Coach Trainer by serving as an assistant coach during one of two days of the Intermediate Junior Shooting Camp to be held during the weekend (July 23-25, 2010).

The course credential earned is Air Rifle and Smallbore Rifle Appointed Coach - Level 1, (three year term). This is the basic standard of certification in the combined National Rifle Association, USA Shooting, and Civilian Marksmanship Program sanctioned coach credential program. The course will be taught by National Coach Trainer Paul Davis. This course is a non-profit activity for the purpose of raising the level of training, expertise, safety, and certification of our high school rifle team and community shooting programs and coaches. This course is also appropriate for JROTC Instructors, Boy Scout Shooting Merit Badge counselors, and 4-H Air Rifle Program Leaders.

The course fee is $165 (includes instruction materials, binder, test and credential fee, and bento dinners). Payment may be made by check or cash. School, DOE or shooting club checks are accepted and receipts will be provided. Please make checks for the course fee payable to "Hawaii FNRA" and mail payment to 129 South Kalaheo Ave.,Kailua, HI 96734.

The course is open to all adults (age 18 +) and no prior coaching experience is required. Junior shooters aged 16-17 may complete the course and earn the Junior Trainer credential. Junior Trainer applicants must have 2 letters of recommendation from a coach, teacher, or parent.
