2017 Hall of Honor Class Announced


The Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association is proud to announce the 2017 Class of Inductees into the Enterprise Rent-a-Car/HHSAA Hall of Honor:
  • Kayla Afoa, Kamehameha (Volleyball, Track and Field)
  • Kesi Ah-Hoy, Kahuku (Football, Basketball)
  • Jocelyn Alo, Campbell (Softball, Wrestling)
  • Lia Foster, Punahou (Swimming)
  • Hugh Hogland, 'Iolani (Basketball, Volleyball)
  • Kekaula Kaniho, Kahuku (Football, Basketball)
  • Celena Molina, Konawaena (Basketball, Volleyball)
  • K.J. Pascua, 'Iolani (Football, Wrestling, Judo)
  • Kristen O'Handley, Kaiser (Track and Field, Cross Country)
  • Ava Shipman, Seabury Hall (Cross Country, Track and Field)
  • Tua Tagovailoa, Saint Louis (Football)
  • Dane Yamashiro, 'Iolani (Wrestling, Judo)
These 12 outstanding senior student-athletes were selected by a 16-person committee of current and former sports reporters, athletic directors and coaches from around the state after two days of in-depth meetings. The criteria is based mainly on athletic achievement but character, sportsmanship, academic record and community service also are taken into consideration.
 
Each inductee also will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship courtesy of the HHSAA and Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.
 
The student-athletes will be formally inducted at an HHSAA Awards Banquet at 5 p.m. June 4 at Dole Cannery's Pomaika'i Ballroom. For ticket information, please call (808) 800-4092.
 
The Hall of Honor program has been recognizing the top 12 Hawai‘i senior student-athletes each year since 1983.
