Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Program

Aloha Coach Aina,

The Aloha Section PGA Scholarship Committee would like to broaden its reach and is asking for your support to forward this opportunity to each league coordinator for golf statewide. It’s our hope they will share it with their coaches and student-athletes who will be graduating this year.

The Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Program was established in 2007 to encourage and promote the attainment of higher educational goals for high school seniors who have actively participated in the game of golf and have excelled in their academic achievements.

The program is designed to award one-year educational scholarships. The amount of the scholarships will be a maximum of $5,000. Special awards may be granted based on the availability of funds and discretion of the Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Committee.

The Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Committee will review class ranking, grade point average (GPA) and either ACT or SAT test scores, along with the student’s extracurricular activities. The student should be enrolled in college bound curriculum. Designated honors should be noted.

Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Committee also requires applicants to meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Hawaii
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Must have completed or plan to complete high school by August 1, 2015
  • Attend or plan to attend an accredited two or four year college or university.
  • Be a full time student in a course of study leading to a traditional associate or baccalaureate degree.

Aloha Section PGA Foundation Scholarship Committee will give special consideration to applicants that:

  • Have a grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 grading scale.
  • Are active in school/community extracurricular activities.
  • Are pursuing a degree in a golf related field, such as turf management or golf operations management.

Deadline to submit applications are April 15, 2015 at 5:00 PM (HST). Applications are available on our website ASPGA.COM or contact the Aloha Section PGA at (808) 593-2230.
